Description
A gold coin (aureus) of Septimius Severus represents the stadium.
In modern Rome, the Piazza Navona reflects the stadium's long shape. At the far end of the piazza, a small section of the ancient stands can be visited in an underground museum.
The obelisk now in the middle of the Piazza Navona was commissioned and set up by Domitian elsewhere in the city. It was moved to the Piazza Navona in the early modern era.
