Pediment of the Temple of Sulis Minerva at the Bath Archaeological Museum

Title
Pediment of the Temple of Sulis Minerva at the Bath Archaeological Museum
Location (Site/Findspot)
Description
Fragments from the pediment of the temple of Sulis Minerva have been reconstructed in the museum. Colored light is projected to help visitors imagine the pediment's original painted appearance. The imagery in the pediment has puzzled scholars, but Eleri Cousins has recently connected the (unusually male) head of a gorgon at the center to the trend established by the sculpted shields along the portico of the Forum of Augustus in Rome.
